Kim Kardashian is preparing to testify in the upcoming robbery trial in Paris.
According to PEOPLE, Kardashian “is eagerly awaiting her chance to testify against the suspects involved in the 2016 Paris robbery.”
“Kim’s a bit nervous, but she always said that she wanted to testify in person,” a source told the outlet. “This is her choice. She was terrified for her life during the robbery. She wants the people involved convicted.”
On Monday, May 12, Kardashian took her Instagram stories to reveal she was traveling to France to take the stand. Displaying the view from her private plane, Kardashian posted an emoji of the French flag, alluding to being close to landing in Paris.
In October 2016, armed thieves broke into Kardashian’s room at the No Address hotel in Paris was broken into by armed thieves during Fashion Week. According to the report, she was bound, gagged, placed in a bathtub, and held hostage. While she was confined, five masked assailants wearing masks stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry in the middle of the night.
“They put plastic ties around her wrists, but she managed to squeeze her hands out of the wrist ties by wriggling her hands,” a source close to Kardashian told PEOPLE at the time.
The New York Times reported that ten people nicknamed the “grandpa robbers” are all defendants in the trial.
During a 2017 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the reality star opened up about the harrowing ordeal and recalled fearing for her life in a conversation with her sisters.
“They ask for money. I said I don’t have any money,” she said. “They dragged me out onto the hallway on top of the stairs. That’s when I saw the gun clear, like clear as day. I was kind of looking at the gun, looking down back at the stairs.”
“I was like, ‘I have a split second in my mind to make this quick decision,” she continued. “Am I going to run down the stairs and either be shot in the back? It makes me so upset to think about it. Either they’re going to shoot me in the back, or if I make it and they don’t, if the elevator does not open in time, or the stairs are locked, then like I’m f**k. There’s no way out.”
